    Hi Murat,

Thank you for posting in the DoubleDutch Community! When uploading attendees using the attendee import template, you can leave the Password field blank and it will randomize the password. From your post, it appears that you have already uploaded your attendees. If attendees have already been uploaded, they would need to first be deleted from the CSM before importing the new, updated attendee import template.

Thanks for your response. In this case if I want to add new participants using the same Excel sheet, would I need to delete all the contacts from the CMS and add them again I guess. But then the attendees that got their passwords already would get new passwords. How can I handle that?

    Hi Murat,

If you would like to add new participants using the Excel sheet, you can simply export the current attendee list from the CMS and add the new subset of attendees.

    • Navigate to the Content tab of the CMS
    • Select the Attendees section
    • Select Actions
    • Select Export Attendees

Using this template, add your new attendees and upload. You can also use a completely blank attendee import template to upload a new subset of attendees.

    Hi,

Yes, I know how importing and exporting work, I've been using that function, but let me explain step by step what my question is.

Let's say we have an event of 1000 people and we created an Excel sheet with 600 attendees and we created random passwords for these. Now I want to add 400 more attendees. You are saying that in order to add new attendees I would need to delete the existing ones from the CMS. So I export the attendee list now, delete them in the CMS, and add the new attendees in the sheet, and import the sheet again. But then the existing attendees would also get new passwords, right?

    Hi Murat,

In the example you've presented, the existing attendees would also get new passwords. If all 1000 attendees need to have their password randomized, deleting the entire attendee list in the CMS and reimporting with the full set of 1000 attendees (Password field blank for all) will ensure that all attendees have a new, randomized password. Note that deleting the current set of 600 attendees will remove any activity from these attendees to date, including status updates and survey results.

However, you will not need to delete the existing 600 attendees to ensure that the new set of 400 attendees have randomized passwords. All that you would need to do is export the current attendee list, add the 400 attendees to the spreadsheet (Password field blank for these 400 users), and upload the modified template into the CMS. This will add the new attendees and maintain the existing 600 attendees' passwords as they were.

    I hope this helps clarify!
