Live Scoring allows you to involve your attendees during speaker presentations, beyond polling and q&a. Give your attendees the ability to offer their feedback in a fun and creative way by "sending" emojis while a speaker is presenting. Turn Live Scoring into a competition by awarding the speaker with the most emojis a prize. You could even add a unique element to your event by creating a storytelling competition amongst your attendees by using the Live Scoring feature.
Enabling Live Scoring
To enable Live Scoring, go to the Discover More section of the CMS and click on the corresponding "Install Now" button on the Live Scoring box. This will add a section called "Live Scoring" to your app layout.
Moderating Live Scoring in the CMS
Starting a Live Scoring Session
To start a Live Scoring session, go to the corresponding section under the Content tab of the CMS. Then, click 'Initialize'. Next, enter the name of the contestant (the speaker) and click 'Intro contestant'.
By default, Live Scoring uses the heart emoji, however you can add your own by copying and pasting it in the "Custom emoji" text field. Emojipedia is a good source of emojis that you can copy from your computer.
Then, enter the time allotted for the contestant to speak, and then click 'Start time for...'.
This will start the timer for that contestant.
Launching the Presentation Screen
Launching the presentation screen allows you to display the timer for attendees to see and heart emojis being given on a monitor. But before you launch the presentation you have the option to use a custom background image by typing in the full URL. The recommended image size for the background is at least 700x700 px.
Click 'Launch Presentation' to display Live Scoring.
Ending a Live Scoring Session
To end a Live Scoring session, either let the timer run out or you can end the session early by clicking on 'Close Scoring' in the CMS. After the session has ended the total number of hearts received for that contestant will be visible.
Note: if you are keeping track of final scores, make sure you write down the speaker's total BEFORE starting a new session. The final score for each speaker is not stored in the CMS.
If you're still displaying the presentation on a monitor the total number of hearts will appear there for attendees to see as well.
At any time, click 'Reset scoring session' to cancel the current session and begin a new one.
Using Live Scoring in the App
Attendees will be able to access the Live Scoring section from the navigation menu of the event app. If there's no current Live Scoring session happening, then attendees will see the following:
Once a Live Scoring session has been started by the event organizer in the CMS, they will then be able to see who's speaking and start sending hearts to that contestant. Attendees can give up to twenty hearts per speaker.
Once the session ends, attendees will see that they no longer can submit any more heart emojis.
