Magic Hour is a fun and creative way to have your attendees engage with one another and get to know each other. Upon visiting the Magic Hour section in the app, attendees will be able to scan other attendees' QR codes to add them to a select number of slots. As a Magic Hour meeting begins, attendees will then be prompted with a topic to discuss with another attendee in one of the slots. It's a great icebreaker and a perfect way to use the app for "speed networking".
To enable Magic Hour, go to the Discover More section in the CMS and click the 'Install Now' button on the Magic Hour box. The Magic Hour section will then be available for you to configure, under the Content tab.
Configuring Magic Hour in the CMS
Upon initially visiting the section under Content, you will see that a Magic Hour meeting has yet to be started. Before you start a meeting, you will want to determine the number of slots that attendees will be able to fill. The number of slots indicates the number of unique attendees that someone will be able to add within the app.
Additionally, you will want to enter topics for each slot. The topics listed determine what the attendees will see in the app and discuss during their meetings.
Note: if you have more topics than slots, the number of slots will determine the number of topics that will appear. For instance, if you have 7 topics but only 6 slots, the 7th topic will not appear at all. Similarly, if you have more slots than topics, any extra slots will not show a topic in the app.
To start a meeting, click on 'Start the 1 o'clock meeting'. This will begin the meeting for attendees shown in the #1 spot in the app. You can change the current meeting by changing the number under "Current o'clock time".
Additionally, you can select 'Turn off current meeting' to end all meetings in the app.
Lastly, selecting 'Clear all meetings!' will remove all added attendees from their slots in the app.
Using Magic Hour in the App
Attendees can access Magic Hour from the navigation menu in the app. Upon visiting the section for the first time, all the slots will be blank with the attendee's own QR code shown.
From there they can start adding attendees to the empty slots available. To add someone to a slot, they'll tap on the appropriate number to have the device's camera viewfinder appear. Then the other individual will also go to Magic Hour in the app and have their QR code scanned to add themselves to that person's slot.
Once an individual is in a slot, they cannot be replaced with another attendee.
Similarly, you cannot schedule an attendee for more than one slot.
Once the event organizer starts a meeting, attendees can reference the time hand to see their current meeting. They'll see the name of the individual they are meeting with and the topic for the two to discuss.
