Code of Conduct is a feature that can be used to outline expected behavior for your attendees at your event. Additionally, attendees can report conduct violations within the app.
To enable Code of Conduct, go to the Discover More tab in the CMS and click 'Install Now'.
Code of Conduct in the CMS
Once Code of Conduct is enabled for your event, you can manage the feature by clicking on the corresponding section from the Layout tab of the CMS.
Adding a General Code of Conduct for All Attendees
Upon initially visiting the section, you will notice that the Code of Conduct text field is blank. You can put your own conduct text in the field, or click 'Add default code of conduct' to add a generic one created by DoubleDutch.
Once you've added your Code of Conduct text, click 'Publish to App' to save.
Adding a Custom Code of Conduct for Specific Individuals
Additionally, you can add a different code of conduct for specific attendees at your event. This is good for creating codes of conduct for internal and external attendees who are at the same event. Start by clicking on 'Add New Code of Conduct' under the Custom Code of Conduct section.
Then fill out the form with the title of the custom code of conduct, the conduct text using your own text or the default text, and an optional question for the attendees to answer.
With the optional question, you can choose whether you want the individual to answer True/False, or you can allow them to enter free form text (Input).
Next, create an excel document (CSV) with the list of attendee email addresses that should be prompted with this custom code of conduct in the app (instead of the general one). Make sure you name the column with your list of email addresses as follows: Email Address.
Note: the email addresses imported here must match the attendee's email address from the attendee list or the custom code of conduct won't appear for that individual.
Click 'Publish to App' save your custom code of conduct. Additionally, you can delete a custom code of conduct at any time by selecting the 'Delete' button.
Adding Trusted Persons
Trusted Persons are individuals that can handle reported violations. To add a Trusted Person, type in the name and select the individual's name.
Note: the Trusted Person must be listed as an attendee in the app.
Handling Reported Violations in the CMS
As conduct violations are reported by attendees, they will appear in the Reported Violations section of Code of Conduct in the CMS. As an event organizer, you have the ability to resolve violations by clicking on the 'Resolve' button. A window will appear, prompting you to specify how the violation was resolved and the name of the person that handled resolution.
Reporting a Violation
Also within the Reporting Violations box is an option to add violations. This gives event organizers the option to add violations without using the app. Click 'Report a Violation' to open a window that will ask you to describe the incident, who reported it, and who the violation is being reported on behalf of.
Code of Conduct in the App
With the feature enabled for your event and after you've published the conduct text in the CMS, when attendees select the event from the picker in the app, they will be prompted with the Code of Conduct.
They'll then need to scroll down to the bottom of the page in order to tap the 'I agree to the event code of conduct' before they will be taken to the main event navigation menu.
Additionally, the Code of Conduct section will be accessible to attendees via the corresponding section in the tab bar navigation.
Code of Conduct Section
Upon viewing the Code of Conduct section in the app, attendees will have several options:
- view the full Code of Conduct
- report a violation
- message trusted persons
Reporting a Violation
To report a violation, attendees will tap on the corresponding button to open the submission form. From there they can fill out the details of the incident, select whether or not they want to report the violation anonymously, and choose a contact method to be contacted by a trusted person.
Once a violation has been reported it will appear in the Reported Violations box within Code of Conduct.
